The Musical Express

Our Story

​

The Musical Express was founded and established in the Martinez, Georgia area in 2000. Ms. Temeka Davis started the piano studio with a handful of students and her personal philosophy that piano education, imagination, adventure, and fun all go hand and hand. Mrs. Rebekah Whitaker joined the studio's administrative support staff in 2007, and soon thereafter became a piano instructor. Over the years, The Musical Express' studio family has grown to include over 110 students. Our instructors are committed to fostering creativity and developing life-long musicians.

The Musical Express is one of the CSRA's most innovative resources for piano lessons. If you are looking for a fun, upbeat environment to start (or continue) your musical journey... look no further!

Students learn to cultivate a genuine excitement and esteem for music's power, humor, charm, and grace through the use of One-On-One Instruction, Music Appreciation Field Trips, Performance Evaluation Events, Community Outreach Music Programs, Performance Recitals, and Group Workshops. All of these combined teaching techniques contribute to a rewarding music education program specifically designed to facilitate progress and encourage achievement according to each student's individual ability.

The Musical Express holds active educational and professional memberships with associations and organizations dedicated to backing today's modern piano studio. Thanks to the support or these affiliates, we are able to offer our students a variety of performance and evaluation opportunities to enhance their music education and development.

Since 2014, Ms. Temeka Davis continues to serve as a board member of the Augusta Music Teachers Association (AMTA). She is currently serving as the 2022-2024 Membership Coordinator for AMTA.

Steinway Teacher & Educational Partner

The Steinway Teacher & Educational Partner Programs (STEPs) are designed for the piano instructors and affiliated studio partners to enhance their relationship with the Steinway organization and further support their piano instruction.

Steinway and Sons Top Teacher Award 2022, 2020, 2018. 2017, & 2016

This is an annual award given to teachers for outstanding instruction and leadership in music education at the piano who demonstrate an unceasing commitment to their students and helping them to fulfill their highest potential as musicians and pianists.
